WHO’S THE IMPOSTER?
There are deep seated mindset issues here but there are things we can do to find freedom from the hold of imposter syndrome and it begins with acknowledging how incredible you are to have made it this far - you have a story to tell, a journey we can all learn from, nothing small or insignificant isn’t worth rejoicing.
Find out if you’re feeling a little lost because of imposter syndrome:
Do you feel like a fraud?
You might have made it in whatever you do or even taken the steps to do what you yearn to but you still feel that irking voice inside that is telling you you’re just waiting to be found out as it's been all smoke and mirrors and it isn’t before long you’ll be found out. You can’t help but feel like a fake?
Do you devalue yourself?
Do you sometimes find yourself finding ways to not accept money for your value? Do you find yourself feeling like your knowledge should just be shared for free because its really not worth it? Devaluing ourselves comes from not feeling that we are worth it - not believing your experience is worthy of being shared for.
Do you undermine your knowledge and expertise?
Do you find yourself saying you’re not qualified enough or you’ve not got the right experience to do something (say write a book!)? You’re making excuses out of fear; fear of failure, fear of being found unworthy, fear of taking the next step (which is tough and needs courage and getting out of our comfort zone).
If you’re feeling all of these or even one, you’re suffering from imposter syndrome that can seep it’s way into our everyday lives just as much as it can limit our progress professionally or personally.
The beginning of breaking this damaging self-talk and self-belief is by changing the way you see yourself.
