WHY SAVOURED?
From my years of being a food writer I know that as writers we need to be nourished in different ways so that we can really tap into our creative soul to produce good work. There is such a difference between wanting to write and being a writer. Sometimes we just need a community of like-minded people, a structured space that offers inspiration and ignites our creativity.
A writer’s retreat has always offered me such restorative energy, but writing retreats come to an end. I wanted to create an everlasting writing retreat - and that is what Savoured is.
A writers retreat - nurtured with great food, inspired by writing prompts, and encouraged by a creative community.
You’ll discover how my heritage has influenced my life in the UK, how I’ve adapted and infused my home spices into my new life on Scottish soil and how our stories shape who we are and lie at the centre of my cuisine – seasonal recipes for reset, rejuvenation and recovery.
Savoured shows you how to trust your intuition alongside ways to infuse spices into your food, featuring secrets that I have never shared before, ancestral recipes, techniques and tips, from my home to yours. So much more than cuisine, Savoured is about what’s on the table but also what lies within, with wellbeing at the heart of the community and the topics that we cover. Savoured enhances creativity and encourages lifestyle changes while sharing stories and weaving a thread of heritage throughout our virtual kitchen.

About Your MENTOR
Sumayya is a food writer, author and educator, promoting the power of intuitive cuisine and food with authentic flavour. Previously a lawyer, Sumayya gave up her suit and corporate success for a slower, more creative life with cuisine at the heart, deep in rural Scotland. Known for her mindful style to cooking and her slow living ethos, Sumayya has a holistic approach to wellbeing and believes in the power of experimenting with spices and sharing stories, caring deeply about the importance of connection.
