online course
Brewed is a combination of
creative mindset and practical writing guidance that will take you
through the process of writing your first proposal.
The dream…
So many of us dream of capturing our recipes and stories into a cookbook and tell ourselves we will do so “one day”.
We let a lack of creative confidence and practical knowledge stop us from taking the first step to crafting a cookbook proposal. It can seem daunting and intimidating to present your ideas to the world in this way, but a proposal is essential if you’d like to see your book published traditionally.
My story….
Some years ago I was in the same position and through a long and painful process I managed to overcome my fears, learnt how to put together a book proposal and have since have become the published author of two books and upcoming food memoir and have won numerous awards.
I now want to share everything I’ve learnt with you, and help you create a cookbook proposal for agents and editors that will offer you a chance to be represented and bring your cookbook dream to life.
THE INSPIRATION and aspiration:
Like a cup of chai, writing a book proposal is a slow and considered process that cannot be rushed! And just like the cookbook you create, the course will be a nourishing and nurturing experience.
Brewed with have an emphasis on carving out time away from your busy life, creating rituals and routines to support your creative journey. I’ll be there to support you with a deep understanding that we all struggle with imposter syndrome and self-doubt, and together we will create an honest and empathetic community to support us through this process and beyond..
What’s inside Brewed:
Over four weeks, we will go through the process of creating the perfect book proposal and work on our writer’s mindset mirroring the elements of making a perfect cup of chai:
You’ll discover that while at the end of our time together you will have the first draft of your book proposal, but the work we’d have done together will go far deeper and will support your writing career for many years to come.
Brewed will include four weeks of audio, video content, worksheets and a weekly recorded video with an expert and me!

ABOUT YOUR MENTOR.
With over 11 years of experience, I’m UK’s leading Pakistani food writer and author. I grew up in Pakistan but moved to the UK about seventeen years ago.
I left a 12 year legal career to follow my dreams to become an author. I’m a traditionally published author of two cookbooks and my third book, a food memoir is out in April 2023. I won the Scottish Book Trust Award 2021 for my upcoming memoir.
I write for and have been featured in The Guardian, BBC News, Olive, Delicious, Waitrose magazine, The New York Times, Saveur, Food 52, The Telegraph and many others. I am a regular panelist on BBC Radio 4 The Kitchen Cabinet with Jay Rayner and host my own podcast A Savoured Life.
With a nurturing and soulful approach to my nostalgic food writing, I love helping other writers achieve their writing dreams.
I’m passionate about the written word and working through emotional roadblocks to allow our creativity to flow. Well- connected in the writing world, I’ve been fortunate enough to become friends with authors such as Madhur Jaffrey and Olia Hercules, who have been supportive through my writing career. I’m also a committee member of the Guild of Food Writers and have been a supporter of their work in the food writing world ever since I joined in 2011.
